Dedicated business internet connection

Dedicated internet for businesses that stop when the connection does: uncontended, usually symmetric, SLA-backed, and managed by one team that owns the faults.

A dedicated internet connection is a circuit used only by your business, rather than capacity shared with other customers on the same local network. Asptech designs, supplies and manages dedicated connections — usually delivered as a leased line over an established UK carrier’s network — and takes on the routing, firewalling, monitoring and fault handling.

Infrastructure, not a utility bill

Most businesses buy internet the way they buy electricity: choose a package, pay the bill, phone the provider when it stops. That is fine while the connection is a convenience. It stops being fine when your phones, your stock system, your cloud accounts package and your remote staff all depend on it at once.

A dedicated connection is designed the way the rest of your infrastructure should be — sized against what the business actually does, built with an understanding of what happens when it fails, and monitored so that someone knows about a fault before your staff do.

What “dedicated” actually means

  • Uncontended

The bandwidth on the circuit is yours. It does not shrink at nine o’clock when every other business on the street logs on.

  • Symmetric where it matters

Upload is usually the same as download. That is what Teams calls, cloud backup, CCTV and staff connecting in remotely actually depend on.

  • A contracted SLA

Availability and repair targets are written into the contract, with the carrier’s engineering teams working to them, rather than a best-efforts appointment slot.

  • Static addresses and proper routing

Fixed public IP addresses for VPNs, remote access and hosted services, with routing and firewalling designed rather than left on defaults.

The problems it solves

  • Calls breaking up

Teams and VoIP calls suffer from congested upload and jitter far more than from low download speed. A dedicated, symmetric circuit removes the most common cause.

  • Cloud systems slowing down

When accounts, CRM, ERP and file storage all live in the cloud, the connection becomes the speed limit for every one of them at once.

  • Remote access and VPNs

Staff connecting in from home or other sites are limited by your office’s upload, not their own. On asymmetric broadband that is usually the bottleneck.

  • Large files and backups

Drawings, video, CCTV footage and off-site backups move in both directions. Symmetric bandwidth means the overnight backup actually finishes overnight.

Who looks after it

We do not own the national fibre network, and neither does almost anyone you could buy a leased line from. What we do is choose a suitable carrier and product for your address, manage the order, survey and installation, configure the router and firewall, plan the cutover, and monitor the circuit afterwards.

When there is a fault, you call us. We diagnose it, raise it with the carrier, chase it and keep you updated. You are not left on hold to a call centre trying to prove the problem is not your own equipment.

When you do not need it

If your business can carry on for a day without the internet, or fall back to mobile data without much pain, good business broadband is probably the right answer — and it costs a fraction of a dedicated line. If that is the case, we will tell you.

Common questions

Is a dedicated connection the same as a leased line?
In practice, usually. “Leased line” is the common UK term for a dedicated, uncontended Ethernet circuit from your premises into a carrier’s network. Bandwidth, SLA and delivery method vary by carrier and product.
How much faster will it be than our broadband?
That is rarely the right measure. Headline download on good broadband can look similar. The difference is consistency through the day, upload, the SLA, and what happens when something goes wrong.
How long does installation take?
Commonly several weeks to a few months, depending on the carrier, what is already in the ground and whether a landlord’s permission is needed. We give you a realistic date once the order has been surveyed, and can arrange an interim connection where needed.
Can we increase the bandwidth later?
Usually. Many circuits are installed on a bearer larger than the bandwidth you pay for, so an upgrade is a change of service rather than a new installation. We check this when we specify the line.

Find out what your site can actually get

Tell us your address, how you use the connection and what an outage would cost. We will check what carriers can deliver and tell you honestly whether a leased line is worth it.

  • Leased line vs business broadband

How leased lines and business broadband differ on cost, contention, upload, SLAs, repair, availability and installation — and when each is the sensible choice.

  • Resilient business internet and backup connectivity

Backup internet designed around what downtime costs you — primary and backup circuits, automatic failover, and routes that are genuinely independent of each other.

  • Business internet for offices

Office connectivity for teams of twenty and up: enough upload for Teams and the cloud, a backup that genuinely works, and one team handling faults end to end.

  • Telephony & VoIP

UK-hosted VoIP PBX and DDI numbers in UK area codes — reliable, scalable telephony that moves with your business.

  • Monitoring as a service

Proactive monitoring of servers, networks, websites and services — so you hear it from us, not from a customer.
