Business internet for warehouses and distribution centres

Connectivity for warehouses and distribution sites, where a dropped line stops picking, despatch and carrier integrations — designed with resilience from the start.

In a warehouse or distribution centre, the internet connection links the warehouse management system, handheld scanners, carrier labelling, customer integrations and CCTV to the outside world. When it fails, goods stop moving. Asptech designs, supplies and manages dedicated and resilient connectivity for warehouses and distribution sites.

What depends on the connection

  • Warehouse management

Cloud-hosted WMS and ERP platforms mean every pick, put-away and stock movement crosses the internet. Latency and drop-outs show up as scanners waiting.

  • Carrier and customer integrations

Labels, manifests, booking slots and EDI with customers and couriers all need a live connection. Despatch cut-offs do not move because the line is down.

  • Handheld devices

Scanners and vehicle terminals rely on the Wi-Fi, but when the systems behind them are in the cloud the Wi-Fi relies on the internet.

  • CCTV and security

Cameras uploading to cloud storage or a monitoring centre need steady upload around the clock — often the largest continuous user of upload on site.

Large sites, awkward locations

Distribution sites are often on newer business parks or edge-of-town plots where carrier fibre may not yet reach the unit, and getting a leased line in can mean new duct and a longer lead time. That is worth knowing before the lease is signed, not after the racking is in.

Where the permanent circuit will take time, or the site is genuinely remote, an interim connection over 4G/5G or satellite keeps the site trading while it is built — and can stay on afterwards as the backup.

Resilience for round-the-clock operations

For most warehouses the question is not whether to have a backup but how independent it should be. A site working through the night, or with tight despatch windows, usually justifies a leased line plus an independent backup on a different route or technology, with automatic failover so that the night shift is not waiting for someone to notice.

Connecting sites together

Multi-site operations need warehouses, offices and sometimes customer sites connected securely to one another. We design the site-to-site links, routing and firewalling as one network rather than a collection of separate connections from separate suppliers.

Common questions

Our new unit has no fibre. What are the options?
A leased line can usually still be delivered, though new duct can add time and cost — both are confirmed at survey. In the meantime, 4G/5G or satellite can provide a working connection from day one.
How much bandwidth does a warehouse need?
Often less than an office with the same headcount, but it has to be consistent and resilient. CCTV upload is frequently the biggest single factor.
Can you do the warehouse Wi-Fi as well?
Yes. Connectivity and Wi-Fi for scanners are designed together, which stops each supplier blaming the other when a scanner loses its session.

Find out what your site can actually get

Tell us your address, how you use the connection and what an outage would cost. We will check what carriers can deliver and tell you honestly whether a leased line is worth it.

  • Warehouse Wi-Fi installation

Warehouse Wi-Fi designed around high racking, changing stock and handheld scanners — surveyed, installed, then managed or handed over.

  • Resilient business internet and backup connectivity

Backup internet designed around what downtime costs you — primary and backup circuits, automatic failover, and routes that are genuinely independent of each other.

  • Business internet for manufacturing

Connectivity for manufacturers whose ERP, remote machine support and supply-chain links depend on the line — dedicated, resilient, and properly segmented.

  • Dedicated business internet connection

Dedicated internet for businesses that stop when the connection does: uncontended, usually symmetric, SLA-backed, and managed by one team that owns the faults.

  • Monitoring as a service

Proactive monitoring of servers, networks, websites and services — so you hear it from us, not from a customer.
